Imagine all the people being connected

- 5 MIN READ - 10 Mar 2013

Have you ever wondered how many people actually own or use mobile phone?

Recent studies have shown that by the year 2017 there will probably be 5 billion unique mobile subscribers all over the world. Whereas by the year 2012 the number was approximately 3.2 billion, which is a bit less than half of the world population. This fact shows, that in less than 5 years, the mobile industry is expected to grow and spread even more, reaching countries and regions which do not even yet have proper infrastructure.

It is obvious that the growth is decreasing in developed countries and increasing in developing countries. For example in Africa, only one third of the population is in the list of mobile subscribers.

Who’s to say that the whole world must be covered with mobile networks? Still, we see how these crazy technical ideas and solutions have helped us in our every day life, in business and most of all keeping in touch our loved ones. Needless to say, one can not even imagine the amount of new cool services that can be built on such powerful platform of communication.

I am anxious to see, how does the growing number of mobile network users impact the mobile services industry, as well as the usage of smartphones.
