Making payments in Messente

- 5 MIN READ - 08 Sep 2010

One of the first things we are going talk about in this blog about the different features of Messente. We will get started with the different payment options so you will be able to easily navigate your way through the whole process.

After all if actual payments are made things need to go smoothly and without any surprises. We have seen our fair share of web services with confusing payment systems – but then again you probably have too :)

If you have logged in to Messente you are basically ready to start sending messages right away. After composing the text and selecting the contacts you wish to send the SMS to you are guided to the following payment options screen.

The most commonly purchased amounts are displayed in the upper row as quick options. Selecting either of those options lets you skip defining the amount of messages to be purchased and takes you straight on to the payment screen.

If you none of the quick options quite suit you then you can use left-hand box in the bottom row.

There you can specify the exact amount of messages you need to purchase by typing it in and Messente displays the sms price as well as the total costs using your preferred currency.

An important note about the pricing indications on the payment options screen is that Messente displays the price per SMS assuming you will send the messages to your own country. After you purchase the messages though you are free to also send them to other countries. The price charged per SMS from your account may then differ from what you saw during the purchase in case the destination country has a higher or lower SMS cost. So be sure to check the exact rates from our pricing table which can always be accessed by clicking on Coverage and Pricing in the header.

Whether you choose one of the quick options or specify an exact amount of SMS’es to be bought you will then be directed to a purchase screen where we ask you to fill in your billing information and finalize the payment choosing one of the available payment methods. Currently you can pay using PayPal or a credit card. It is important to note however that depending on your location you may have fewer payment options available.

After filling in the details the payment will be completed and you are all set to start sending messages.

Before we finish I will once more come back to the initial payment options screen. As you might have noticed there are two boxes which were left unexplained.

If you have a voucher issued by Messente just type the code into the right hand box and claim your discount.

The center box is for those of you who just need to send a very small amount of messages. Whether you need to send a quick note to your football team or let a couple of friends know about your plans for the weekend – we have reserved the coolest payment method for you.

The SMS based mobile payment is provided by our friends in Fortumo.com and it is by far the easiest way to pay for any web based service.

What you do is you select this option, specify a your country and select one of the message amounts which can be purchased by sending a premium priced SMS.

After that you are asked to enter your phone number so that Fortumo can identify your payment. Once you do that just follow the instructions to complete the transaction.

As you can see Messente offers the a wide range of payment options. We hope you can find the one which suits you best.

20 Oct 2017

With Slush coming up in about a month, it’s a good time ponder the purpose of large startup conferences. Many entrepreneurs head to conferences, like Slush, around the world and throughout the year looking for investments from venture capitalists and angel investors, yet there’s a lot more to gain from startup conferences. Think about it: there will be over 17,000 motivated and creative people in one place at one time. Get creative and gain as much as you can out of the experience.

The economics behind undelivered, failed SMS messages

17 Oct 2017

The cost and full impact of undelivered or failed messages isn’t immediately clear. The financial impact is not simply the combination of the failed SMS and the cost to resend the message, which isn’t very much at times. There are other indirect costs that result from undelivered SMS messages that matter from a financial perspective. Let’s take a deeper look into the ripple effect of undelivered messages, which make the reasons behind our focus on SMS delivery quality even more clear.

Here are a few examples.

Fraud and Security: 2FA Considerations for PSD2

10 Oct 2017

The second Payment Services Directive (PSD2) is less than three months away from enforcement. While the regulation’s text is lengthy, a key component of the law is its extended reach in comparison to the first directive. PSD2 applies to all payment service providers and affiliates, including account information service providers and payment initiation service providers. In addition, the law applies when at least one part of the transaction is in the European Union. This means that payment service providers and their affiliates outside of the EU must comply with the law when the payer is in the EU. The additional geographical reach guarantees the same level of security expectations for all EU residents regardless of the location of the payment service provider.
