For those customers who choose not to integrate our API into their systems, Messente provide an option to send SMS messages through our dashboard via our web tool. SMS messages can be sent to individual phone numbers, or to bulk groups --here’s how it’s done.

After logging into the dashboard, you’ll find the web tool. To send messages in bulk, create a new group under the “Phone Book” page, which allows you to create specific groups for certain types of messages, or it creates a general contact list.

To avoid entering each contact’s mobile number into groups, upload them in bulk using a .csv file --click the downward pointing arrow next to the group, choose to import contacts, and then “Upload CSV file with contacts data.” Manually entering the mobile numbers is still an option, or you can import contacts from a Google account.

Find the details on formatting the .csv file here.

Once contacts have been successfully imported, go to the “Compose” page, choose a desired Sender name (this will be the name that appears as the sender for the recipient,) select a contact list for the message, and then compose the message body.

Notice that the messages may vary in length, depending on the characters being used. The Messente web tool provides the ability to replace some of the characters to be more GSM friendly as indicated (a preview of the replacement is shown by hovering the pointer over the “i” symbol.) If there are no replacement options, click on “Preview” to see the message and the associated costs.

The message can be sent immediately by clicking “Send,” or the message can be delayed and sent at any preferred time, by clicking “Schedule for Later.”

It is definitely easier to send a lot of bulk messages by implementing our API, for which the documentation can be found here.
